The Infrared Thermal Sensing Safety Alert System for the Elderly is a privacy preserving system which monitors an individual’s safety in a private space by analysing the real-time thermal data of the private space to detect the human movement. When the body movement of the individual is not detected for a period of time, an alarm will alert the caretakers that the individual is in danger. It consists of several movement sensitivity levels and can be installed easily inside a toilet or a bathroom. The pilot-run has been conducted in TWGHs Jockey Club Rehabilitation Complex.
